Job details
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Tasks: Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Operate laser cutters. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Schedule work. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Develop computerized pattern and layout. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Overtime required. Tight deadlines. Personal suitability: Dependability. Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Organized. Team player.
