TEACHING VACANCY: POSTING NO. 39 JUNE 4, 2024 School: All District Schools Start Date: September 1, 2024 Salary: $60,648 - $114,735 + current provincial recruitment and retention allowance Assignment: 1.0 Continuing Position District Numeracy Support Position of Special Responsibility (POSR) Nechako Lakes School District gratefully acknowledges that we live, work, and play on the unceded, ancestral territories of fourteen First Nations representing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suwet'en peoples. We are working diligently towards creating equity for our learners through conscious acts of Reconciliation. The School District Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suweten peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC. We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Our region has affordable housing, welcoming communities and a lower cost of living than many other regions. Come and enjoy over 200 lakes, rivers and streams and an abundance of outdoor recreation at your doorstep. Qualifications: Possesses or is eligible for a BC Teaching Certificate. Has training and/or evidence-based successful experience teaching students with diverse academic and social- emotional needs. Has successful experience as a teacher-leader in supporting and leading colleagues in their work to strengthen student learning, includes co-planning, modelling and co-teaching lessons and units, and assessment for, of, and as learning. Demonstrated proficiency with the BC curriculum including core competencies and current reporting standards. Has experience in identifying essential learning outcomes related to numeracy and in selecting and implementing assessment strategies, with an emphasis on the systematic implementation of formative assessment strategies. Has ability to co-host and lead collaborative marking sessions of district assessments. Has demonstrated success in working with colleagues in the planning and delivery of numeracy curriculum, with an emphasis on curricular competencies, across a wide range of grade levels (K-12). Has demonstrated effective classroom management skills. Has demonstrated ability and willingness to develop and maintain a positive classroom environment. Has proven interpersonal skills necessary for building open and constructive mentoring relationships with colleagues. Is highly motivated and able to work with children in a positive and consistent manner. Ability to assist teachers with the integration of appropriate technologies into instructional practices in order to improve learning outcomes is essential. Possesses a valid driving license and has vehicle access for in-district travel as required.
