Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Work setting: Urban area. Various locations. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Willing to relocate. Hospital or home for the aged. Nursing home/home for the aged. Public or community health centre. Rehabilitation centre and special health institution. Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis. Note: This is NOT a condition of employment. Group home. Tasks: Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities. Assist with maintenance and repair of medical equipment. Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort. Perform other duties related to personal care. Supply and empty bed pans. Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse. Serve meal trays and feed patients. Weigh, lift, turn and position patients. Deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments. Make beds and maintain patients' rooms. Supervise patients' exercise routines. Maintain inventory of supplies. Bathe, dress and groom patients. Transport patients between care facilities. Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher. Answer call signals to determine patients' needs. Collect specimens. Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and sterilizing operative areas. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Acute care nursing Certificate. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. Behaviour management Certification. Certified foot care nurse. Continuing Care Assistant Certification. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Nursing Aide Certificate. Health Care Aide Certificate. Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Immunization records. Confidential security clearance. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Repetitive tasks. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours. Sound discrimination. Standing for extended periods. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
