The Simcoe County District School Board is accepting applications for the following position:<p>Summer Writing Contract: First 20 Days of Mathematics, Grades 1-8 Revisions <p>Two positions, each 25 hours, to be completed by August 9, 2024<p>The successful candidates for the Summer Writing Contract will complete revisions to the First 20 Days of Mathematics for Grades 1 to 8, including: ?new activities designed to build welcoming, identity-affirming mathematics classrooms where students feel a sense of belonging and confidence; <p> ?new activities for students to engage in collaborative problem solving with multiple entry points while exploring a variety of tools and manipulatives; <p> ?new activities to develop number talk and math conversation routines;<p> ?revisions to the front matter for each grade which includes a description of the changes, including elements of mental health literacy; and<p> ?updating the SCDSB Math site with revised materials aligned withSCDSB Corporate Standards and SCDSB Visual Brand StandardsCandidates will have a thorough understanding of the Grade 1-8 Ontario Mathematics curriculum and experience creating identity-affirming system-level mathematics instruction and assessment resources.<p>Successful applicants will be compensated at the Con-Ed Rate $46.50/hour <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ?An Ontario Teachers Certificate of Qualification<p> ?A University Degree<p> ?Qualifications to teach in two divisions (Junior and Primary or Intermediate)<p> ?Mathematics teaching qualification (preferred)<p> ?Experience in creating identity-affirming, culturally relevant, and evidence-informed instruction and assessment resources<p> ?Five years elementary teaching experience (preferred)KEY COMPETENCIES OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT <p>Successful applicants for the First 20 Days of Math summer writing contract will have: ?thorough knowledge of the Grades 1-8 Ontario Mathematics curriculum;<p> ?knowledge of Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy (CRRP) and anti-oppressive pedagogy<p> ?knowledge of mental health literacy strategies to support student mental health<p> ?a repertoire of effective evidence-informed instructional strategies to engage students in learning;<p> ?in-depth knowledge of assessment, evaluation and reporting;<p> ?experience working in collaboration with colleagues;<p> ?experience using a variety of digital tools to support online instruction, assessment and student engagement;<p> ?an ability to align professional learning with system priorities;<p> ?excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; and<p> ?Growing Success Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting in Ontario Schools (1-12); Ontario Schools Policy and Program Requirements (K-12);<p> School Effectiveness Framework A support for school improvement and student success (K-12);<p> Learning for All A Guide to Effective Assessment and Instruction for All Students (K-12);<p> Creating Pathways to Success, An Education and Career/Life Planning Program for Ontario Schools: Policy and Program Requirements (K-12); and<p> Ontario First Nation, Metis and Inuit Education Policy Framework 2007.
