POSTING #24/25-19b JUNE 10, 2024 JOB POSTING DISTRICT LEARNER SUPPORT CENTRE 1.0 FTE (.80 FTE CONTINUING & .20 FTE TEMPORARY) ASSIGNMENT .80 FTE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL HELPING TEACHER (Continuing) .20 FTE ELEMENTARY COUNSELOR (Temporary) EFFECTIVE: September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 The successful candidate will: Have a valid teaching certificate for the Province of British Columbia and proof of current membership in the BC College of Teachers Have a graduate degree in counselling and recent successful experience as an elementary school counsellor Have recent successful teaching and counselling experience Provide comprehensive support to teachers through a co-teaching model to improve students' social emotional and behavioural functioning and development within the classroom that align with the core competencies in BC's curriculum Provide a child focused approach utilizing current methodology and strategies Be familiar with and willing to apply principles of self-regulation Have knowledge of and commitment to current directions in education Have knowledge of and commitment to using assessment for learning, differentiated instruction and universal design for learning Have experience in teaching social skills and social-emotional wellbeing lessons to elementary age students Be skilled in providing in-service for staff on counselling strategies related to the classroom Have demonstrated ability and commitment to the philosophy of the inclusive classroom Have documented excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills Have a willingness to work in a supportive and cooperative manner with existing school and district personnel Embed the First Nations Principles of Learning in all subject areas Be committed to working as a cooperative, collaborative member of a district wide instructional team and attend meetings as required Be committed to consultation, parent conferences, and positive home/school/community liaison Possess a valid driver's license; travel is a requirement Have an exemplary driving record as demonstrated by a current driver's abstract Applicants should be aware that attendance at staff meetings, professional development activities and school-based team meetings is considered an integral element of assignments.
