<b>POSITION PURPOSE</b><p>Main responsibility is to provide technical aluminum casting know-how to relevant manufacturing department and engineering, to maintain or improve product quality or processes.</p><p></p><b>TYPICAL JOB DUTIES</b><p></p><ul><li>Provides training and technical development and instructions to employees and departments in order to establish manufacturing consistency and repeatability.</li><li>Ensures that the employees have the necessary material, supplies, and tools to perform their work adequately.</li><li>Ensures that the required production process is being followed.</li><li>Communicates and explains activity instructions and product criteria requirements complete comprehension by the employees.</li><li>Ensures that the employees know how to perform their duties and respect the required standards.</li><li>Provides experience and skills to manufacturing and engineering related to part and process issues/activities.</li><li>Responsible for product criteria setups and updating.</li><li>Works with engineering in projects, investigations, and studies to develop, improve, correct, or optimize part quality or processes.</li><li>Responsible for process control and product development</li><li>Troubleshoot casting product and process issues/problems in production</li><li>Establish, document, and verify part specific gating and risering, molding, foundry, and heat treat techniques/parameters.</li><li>Analyze casting defects using metallography and NDT methods</li><li>Evaluate, plan and eliminate defects, failures, and scrap for both production and development programs to ensure a robust process and consistent casting metallurgical quality</li><li>Provide technical support and corrective action relating to customer complaints, customer returns, and internal/external audits.</li><li>Ensure the proper calibration and operation of emission spectrometer for chemical analysis</li><li>Support, implement, and promote foundry environmental health and safety practices</li><li>Technical oversight and responsibilities in materials testing lab (tensile, chemistry, hardness, metallography)</li><li>Test new foundry methods and practices</li><li>Support all continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and cost reduction initiatives</li><li>Support foundry research & development process/product activities</li></ul><p><b><br>COMPETENCY PROFILE<br></b><br><strong>Education</strong><br>DEC (college or foundry technology certificate) or Bachelor in Engineering (Metallurgical, Material Science)<br><br><strong>Professional Designation</strong></p><p>None</p><p><strong>Experience<br></strong>Minimum of 3 years? experience in a manufacturing environment.<br><br><strong>Job Skills</strong></p><p>Training in the following will be favorably considered.</p><ul><li>Continuous improvement</li><li>Health & Safety</li><li>Foundry experience</li><li>Bilingual</li></ul><p><strong>Training requirements</strong></p><p>Training map</p>
