As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a Manager of Human Resources to provide support to ensure the smooth operation and sound management of our Human Resources programs and strategy. The Manager of Human Resources is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of the YMCA to and demonstrate service excellence.
*Responsibilities: *
The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
* Takes the lead in ensuring all HR programs and services are offered at the highest quality and that they accommodate community interest and needs.
* Actively participates as a member of the Senior Management Team to provide input to strategic plans and achieve strategic goals.
* Ignites the potential in people and takes a ?lead by example? approach at all times.
* Implements Association strategic plan goals with a major focus on employee engagement, employee development and retention, and program quality.
* Able to work flexible hours as required, including evenings and weekends; on-call as required and for emergency reporting purposes.
* Provides guidance and support related to HR policies, practices and procedures. Provides solutions by using strategic and imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required.
* Develops and manages effective employee engagement practices including staff appreciation and engagement surveying.
* Fosters a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace through diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) programming.
* Ensures that existing HR policies, procedures and programs are continuously reviewed, developed and maintained in keeping with leadership direction and compliance with legislative requirements.
* With a solid understanding of performance management processes, acts as a resource for leadership for the full spectrum of performance management, including goal-setting, performance measures, assessments, monitoring, disciplinary/reward processes and termination when necessary.
* Develops and delivers internal staff training and staff development programs.
* Manages dispute resolutions and internal workplace investigations in accordance with policy and legislation.
* Participates in job evaluation and pay equity processes.
* Maintains employment related documentation and ensure that current and archived employee records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Association policies and procedures.
* Assists the team with processing staff changes, seasonal hiring and off-boarding.
* Completes schedules, plans, reports and other documentation accurately and within required timelines.
* Supports and develops direct reports by mentoring, coaching and counselling, and where necessary, applies discipline. Provides ongoing feedback and conducts regular performance reviews.
* Coordinates and participates in regular team meetings to ensure effective communication and program coordination among HR staff.
