<b>ROLE SUMMARY </b>: <br><span><span><span>The Heritage College Nursing Program provides a full-time, three-year RN competency-based diploma program. Given that nursing is a practice-based profession, we believe that clinical experience is a vital and integral component of the curriculum, providing students with hands-on opportunities to practice their nursing skills under direct supervision of their clinical instructor. The clinical instructor supports student learning, liaises with assigned nurses in a clinical unit and collaborates with the Faculty Team Leader. The clinical instructor role is an essential and powerful component of nursing education.</span></span> </span><br><br><strong><strong>DUTIES<br></strong></strong>The College is seeking hourly paid professors (Clinical Instructors) to teach credited courses (clinical) within the Nursing program in the Fall 2024.<p><strong>180-A51-HR Mental Health Nursing<br></strong>This course introduces the theory and skills required to care for individuals with Mental Health problems in a hospital setting. The students will apply their theory and skills in a Mental Health hospital placement.</p><p><strong>WORK LOCATION</strong></p><p>Civic Hospital - Monday/Tuesday/some Wednesdays, Day/Evening rotation; August 26 - October 1, 2024, with availability to the College as of August 19, 2024, for meetings and Hospital orientation. 7.5 hours per day (12shifts)</p><p>Montfort Hospital - Monday/Tuesday/some Wednesdays, Day/Evening rotation; August 26 - October 1, 2024, with availability to the College as of August 19, 2024, for meetings and Hospital orientation. 7.5 hours per day (12shifts)</p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong><ul><li>Attend clinical instructor and student hospital orientation for all positions.</li><li>Attend and assist students with skills lab when clinical groups are in a Lab environment or using the Simulation Lab.</li><li>Support student learning:<ul><li>Select appropriate patient assignment as per clinical</li><li>Direct supervision and monitor student performance in clinical setting;</li><li>organize pre-post conferences online;</li><li>Review and offer weekly written and verbal feedback of student learning objectives;</li><li>Review and discuss student midterm self-assessments;</li><li>Assess student progress and complete final student evaluations;</li><li>Ensure completion of student clinical assignments and assess competency as per rubric within the given time frame. Liaise with faculty to ensure coherence across class;</li><li>conduct midterm and final evaluation with</li></ul></li><li>Collaborate with course faculty: ensure ongoing communication with course team</li><li>Attend weekly student progress meetings online.</li></ul><ul></ul><p><span><span> <strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :</strong></span></span></p><ul><li><span>Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and several years of teaching experience at the university or college level is preferred.</span></li><li><span>A minimum of 3 years of Pediatric Nursing experience and Mental Health Nursing.</span></li><li><span>Fluency in English, both oral and written is required.</span></li><li><span>Knowledge of software as per program requirements is necessary.</span></li><li><span>Must be a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario.</span></li><li><span>Hold an OIIQ (Ordre des infirmiers et infirmières du Québec) license for all Quebec placements.</span></li></ul><b>ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :</b><br><span><span><span> <br> Ability to:</span></span></span><ol><li><span><span>Create a dynamic, challenging and motivated learning environment.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Adapt to a variety of student needs and provide appropriate academic and career development support.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Employ exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Proficiency in French, both oral and written.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Demonstrate knowledge of sub
