Job details
Children?s Autism Services of Edmonton is seeking an *Elementary School Teacher for the upcoming 2024/2025 school year*. The school program provides educational programming through an Emotional Regulation Approach and is looking to expand its team of educators for the upcoming school year. The School Program is an essential part of supporting young students with developmental disabilities to find success in their formative years of school. The *Elementary School Teacher* will work with a transdisciplinary team to provide a positive classroom environment while meeting individual children?s needs and working in a child-focused, family-centered environment. At Children?s Autism Services of Edmonton, we provide family-centered services within the home, school or community to meet the complex needs of children who have autism and other developmental disorders using the SCERTS® Model.
*Key Responsibilities:*
· Develop implement and monitor classroom activities to meet the needs of individual students
· Develop/review and implement Individual Program Plans (IPP) in collaboration with parents and consultants and lead IPP meetings
· Complete formative and summative assessments of student progress and create reports to share with families (e.g. report cards)
· Participate in professional growth opportunities
· Work collaboratively on a team of professionals which may include speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior consultants, registered dieticians and psychologists
· Incorporate recommendations and strategies provided by consultants into classroom activities and daily routines and provide feedback on the recommendations
· Supervise and coach classroom educational assistants
*Required Qualifications:*
· 3+ years of direct experience in a special needs setting or equivalent
· Bachelor?s of Education and valid Alberta Teaching Certificate are required
· Police Check with Vulnerable Sector
· Child Intervention Record Check Required
· Safe Management Training (Provided), CPR and Standard First Aid certification required
