We encourage applications from all qualified candidates.<p>Overview: <p>Reporting to the Principal, the Library Technician will perform tasks in collaboration to encourage and develop a collaborative learning environment utilizing the methodology and practices of Learning Commons. Learning Commons is a welcoming interactive resource room that encourages learning groups of various formats in accessing the global, interconnected and interactive communication networks of the future.<p>The Library Technician supports the formation of student groups to read or collaborate on an inquiry project. As our library hosts in-person and virtual book clubs, book talks and author visits, the Library Technician will take initiative and/or assist with these events. The Library Technician will support and participate in the development of the Learning Commons; a place where students conduct independent research, as a breakout space from their regular classroom, or as a place to attend book clubs, literature circles and other literacy-based programs.<p>Duties to Commence: August 19, 2024<p>Qualifications : Completion of two-year library technician diploma or equivalent program an asset.<p> Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to work with elementary/junior high students and students with special learning needs.<p> Knowledge of learning commons and the inquiry process.<p> Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage time and prioritize tasks, and take initiative.<p> Knowledgeable about virtual resources and databases that can fill the gaps in the school library collection, and direct teachers and students alike to those that address their need.<p> Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in both French and English. Duties: Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.<p> Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Mtis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Divisions goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.<p> Process new books (catalogue, label, stamp, laminate dust jackets).<p> Maintain the distribution system and inventory of laptops in the library.<p> Check in/out books.<p> Assist students and faculty looking for books and virtual resources.<p> Assist in maintaining a friendly, welcoming learning atmosphere.<p> Assist in keeping an attractive physical environment.<p> Shelve books and shelf-read.<p> Expertise and involvement in creating innovation to the library service model; all aspects from room organization to serving patrons.<p> Active assistance in collection development, including assessment of the collection, selecting and purchasing books, and overseeing placement of materials in the library for ease of use. <p> Collaborate with the assistant principal and monitor in creating holiday-themed activities and incentives to promote reading.<p> Assist when classes come in for acti
