Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Hog management. Other grain farming. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Outdoors. Grain, oil and forage crop. Work setting: Rural area. Remote location. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Willing to relocate. Tasks: Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas. Handling animals. Harvest seedlings. Marking livestock as proof of ownership. Mixing fertilizer. Monitoring animal health. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Seed cutting. Weeding. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying or harvesting. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations. Maintain work records and logs. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Perform general farm duties. Track and report on current feed inventory . Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Equipment and machinery experience: Feeding and watering system. Fertilizer applicator. Harvesters. Sprayer or duster. Tractor. Area of specialization: Agricultural crop service. Swine. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Attention to detail.
