We are currently looking to fill a Full Time Accounting Clerk Position - at The New Vista Society located in Burnaby, BC
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Housing and the Manager of Finance, the Intern Accountant will contribute to the efficient and effective workings of the finance department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail. This role will utilize accounting knowledge, time management skills and effective problem solving to ensure success.
* Supports the NVS Model of Service, Mission, Vision, and Values.
* Accounts Payable, includes processing invoices, following up with vendors and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Reconcile subledger account.
* Accounts Receivable, including processing payments, producing statement of accounts, collections on overdue accounts and account reconciliation when required. Reconcile subledger account.
* Banking, processing bank deposits, including trips to the bank. All associated finance entries.
* Processing Employee expense reports, verifying expenses are within the company guidelines, correcting errors, questioning abnormal expenses and entering into the finance system.
* Organization credit card reconciliations and communication for obtaining supporting documentation.
* Invoice creation and distribution when required.
* Filing and records retention.
* Communicates with resident and/or their families/designate respecting matters related to trust account activities including ensuring adequate funding is maintained in the account. Reconcile trust bank account.
* Maintain resident?s account by posting payables and receivable to the appropriate resident account.
* Follows up on delinquent accounts by initiating and responding to correspondence and telephone contacts with residents and families, based on New Vista Society policies make alternative repayment arrangement or recommend write-off.
* Identify problems or discrepancies, perform analysis to determine reason for problem or discrepancy and takes corrective action.
* Assist with special projects as required.
* Performs other related duties as required.
*EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:*
* Diploma in Finance/Accounting/Bookkeeping or other related experience
* Accounting/bookkeeping experience is an asset
* Strong MS Office skills
