<p>Posting #2425-279 - School District No. 22 (Vernon) <p>District Office/Indigenous Education <p>1.0 FTE assignment in the area of District Indigenous Education Lead Teacher <p>This is a Continuing Contract Position of Special Responsibility, Level 2, and includes Indigenous Education Lead Teacher responsibilities as outlined below. <p>This is effective September 1, 2024. <p>While all applicants will be considered, preference will be given to qualified applicants who self-declare Indigenous ancestry. <p>The starting annual salary for a school teacher position ranges from $60,000 to $110,000, with placement on the range based on the length of service and qualifications in accordance in accordance with the collective agreement. Positions of Special Responsibility receive an additional pay allowance in accordance with the collective agreement based on the levels 1, 2, or 3.<p> Please contact Charity Sakakibara, Director of Indigenous Education, if you have questions regarding this position. <p>The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, high-energy, culturally-responsive educator with the following qualities and qualifications: A BC Teaching certificate membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch and eligibility for the Teacher Qualification Service card<p> Additional coursework or professional learning in Indigenous studies and/or Math/Science concentration is an asset<p> Fluency in an Indigenous language such as Nsyilxcen and/or Indigenous language program development is an asset<p> Diverse K-12 teaching experiences that reflect a commitment to advancing innovative instruction and assessment practices<p> Successful classroom experience as a teacher of Indigenous students and experience working with Indigenous families and communities<p> Knowledge and understanding of the academic and/or unique needs of Indigenous students<p> Knowledge and desire to support implementation of District Strategic Plan, Equity Action Plan, Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement and Local Education Agreement and other relevant agreements<p> Strong background in Indigenous education and pedagogy and ability to successfully model proven Indigenous teaching methodologies to other teachers<p> Excellent understanding how the First Peoples Principles of Learning and Indigenous perspectives are embedded with the BC curriculum and competencies<p> A strong understanding of Indigenous peoples, cultures, histories and contemporary contexts, including those of the Syilx people<p> Self-directed with excellent time management, organizational and communication skills<p> Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team capacity with school and district staff<p> Experience in leading and facilitating professional development, in-service and professional learning Description of responsibilities: Support teachers in integrating First Peoples Principles of Learning and Indigenous cultural knowledge and understanding its connections to BC curriculum and competencies in all subject areas at all grade levels<p> Provide instructional support for a wide-range of instructional programs and subject areas (i.e. literacy, numeracy, Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, etc.)<p> Review and recommend appropriate learning resources specific to Indigenous education<p> Collaboratively develop Indigenous Education documents and learning resources for staff and students<p> Use knowledge and understanding of academic and/or unique needs of Indigenous students to support school teams to provide appropriate interventions<p> Create awareness and build educator knowledge around culturally appropriate curricular and learning resources, and support educators in the use of these resources to enhance the learning environment for Indig
