*Middlesex Concrete Forming Ltd. *is seeking a full time Estimator to join our growing team! We are located just west of Strathroy and East of Arkona in a rural area so must be able to commute to our office located at 9644 Townsend Line, Kerwood, ON. We are a full service construction company specializing in excavating, concrete forming and framing. We do a wide range of both commercial and agricultural projects and are seeking a hard working, self motivated, detail oriented individual to join our team!
*Summary of essential job duties:*
* The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely, efficient and accurate preparation of estimates for formwork and concrete relating to agricultural and commercial projects
* Ability to read blueprints and perform project takeoffs to develop detailed estimates
* Ability to read and understand instructions to bidders including but not limited to General Conditions, Special Conditions and Specifications, Technical Specifications and Project Schedule
* Review plans and specifications for completeness, converse with engineers and architects as required
* Be responsible and accountable for the projects, tasks, change orders and timelines that are assigned
* Solicitation of prices from Subcontractors and Suppliers for project requirements and materials
* Prepare bid submission documents, proposal letters, conceptual plans and schedules, and tender forms
* Job cost by analyzing and compiling data from past projects that can influence costs and efficiencies of future projects
* Develop and maintain estimating tools to ensure that repetitive tasks are completed more efficiently
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, make well-researched decisions and keep accurate, timely and complete records
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with employees, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
*Education*
* Post-secondary school graduation from a construction, civil or structural program;
* Advanced computer skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows.
*Experience*
* Able to read construction plans and specifications is required
* Experience in the construction industry is required
* Estimating experience and rebar quantitative take-off experience is preferred.
* Agricultural construction knowledge would be an asset but not required
* Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
* Excellent time management, organizational, and analytical skills
