Toronto Business College is registered as a Private Career College under the PCC Act, 2005. We offer certificate diploma programs in the fields of business, information technology and health. Our campus is conveniently located in North York near Highway 404 and Steeles Ave. TBC has partnered with a public college partner to offer programs to international students.
We are currently looking for a College Counsellor to play a central role in the college?s counselling & well being services by providing mental health supports for stakeholders and contributing to a positive overall health & wellness environment at the college. Specific duties will include:
* Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary student service team to provide mental health support to international students.
* Providing one on one counselling services to students on both a by-appointment and drop-in basis.
* Carrying out intake and triage assessments, engaging in community referrals, and connecting with other college staff to support students as needed.
* Engaging in outreach and relationship building within the College and with community-based service providers in order to refer effectively to meet student needs.
* Providing crisis response and case management support as needed, working collaboratively with other members of the counselling and student services team, security team, etc.
* Leading seminars and workshops on a range of health and wellness topics, including self regulation, homesickness, stress reduction, relationships, etc.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications*.
* Master?s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related and current registration to practice psychotherapy in Ontario. Must be fully licensed and in good standing with a regulatory College such as OCSWSSW, CPO, CRPO.
* Experienced mental health clinician with clinical and or community experience with advanced counselling skills, in both group and individual settings.
* Experience collaborating with community organizations and community-based service providers (e.g. housing, social assistance, crisis services, etc.). Understanding of critical issues in student mental health ? e.g., anxiety, depression, substance use, sexual violence, emotional dysregulation, etc.
* Skills in counselling modalities relevant in an educational setting ? e.g. CBT, DBT, solution focused brief counselling.
* Experience and or training in single session counselling models is considered an asset.
* Skills in crisis response and suicide risk assessment and safety planning.
* Experience providing counselling in a post secondary environment, especially with international students, strongly preferred.
