Arora Canadian Immigration Consultancy Inc., based in Surrey, BC, is seeking a qualified and skilled Legal Assistant to provide essential support to our immigration consultants.
*Duties:*
* Conduct legal research on various topics, including case law, statutes, and regulations
* Draft and prepare legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence
* Maintain and organize case files and documents, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible
* Assist the consultants in preparing for meetings, hearings, and trials by organizing documents and scheduling
* Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information or provide updates as directed by consultants
* Manage consultants calendars, appointments, and deadlines to ensure efficient workflow
* Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, and handling correspondence
* Assist with billing clients and tracking consultants time for accurate invoicing
* Utilize legal databases and resources to retrieve and organize information relevant to cases
* Ensure compliance with legal procedures and regulations, assisting with due diligence and document preparation
*Requirements:*
* Minimum of 1 year of experience as a legal assistant or similar role within a law firm or legal department
* Bachelor?s degree in law, legal studies, or a related field is required
* Proficiency in conducting legal research using various resources and databases
* Strong drafting skills for legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence
* Excellent organizational skills for managing and maintaining case files and documents
* Familiarity with scheduling and calendar management for consultants, including managing deadlines and appointments
* Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, witnesses, and colleagues
* Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing legal documents and performing administrative tasks
* Knowledge of legal billing processes and timekeeping systems
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
* Proficiency in using computer software and legal databases to retrieve and organize information
* Understanding of legal compliance and relevant laws and regulations
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 ? 40 per week
