*HEALTH CARE AIDE JOB DESCRIPTION*
Abby Road is seeking a professional, conscientious, friendly Health Care Aide to join our Support Services team.
Abby Road Cooperative is a 49-unit housing cooperative. We currently provide services to twenty-eight members who live independently in their own apartments.
Members self direct their own services/ care. Our Health Care Aides assist in a variety of tasks. We strive to provide quality, excellence driven supports so that members can lead independent, healthy, and autonomous lives. We are looking for people with a genuine interest in helping others, building relationships, and working as an integral part of a caring, supportive team, experience is an asset.
*Primary duties including but not limited to:*
(*a*)Assist members with personal daily living i.e., bathing, dressing, bowel and bladder routines, medication administration and other tasks to ensure the member?s personal requirements are met.
(*b)* Provide mobility assistance i.e., lifts/ transfers, positioning, turning, range of motion.
*(c*) Home making i.e., Follow the member?s instructions for meal preparation. Follow best care practices for safe handling and storage of food. Ensure that the member?s residence is kept in a clean and orderly manner as per the member?s instructions. This may include vacuuming, dusting, washing of floors, walls, windows, changing of bed linen, garbage removal, laundry, ironing, mending, etc.
*(f)* Pet Care at members direction i.e., Feeding, providing fresh water, cleaning litter boxes/ disposing of waste, light grooming, letting pets out on the balcony.
*Required Qualifications*
· Certification through the Alberta Government approved Health Care Aide program, or equivalency as specified by the Alberta Government. Must possess required training and or credentials as specified by Alberta Health Services in their Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Abby Road Support Services. Must have HCA directory number (or it must be in process)
· Must have and maintain a basic First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification.
· Qualified candidates will undergo full reference check(s) prior to being hired. A current Vulnerable Sector/ Police Information Check Certificate is required.
· Must have a mature attitude, be in good health and good physical condition.
· Must be able to be bonded by a certified bonding company.
This is a permanent part time position.

Pay: From $20.16 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
