Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p>We are seeking 2 creative, dynamic, committed professionals<p> to join our team in the:<p>HVAC Apprenticeship Program<p>Facilities Maintenance <p> Summary The Apprentice will be registered in a 9,000 hour (approximately 4.5 years) Ministry of Training, Ontario College of Trades recognized Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (Trade code 313A) apprenticeship program, including three (3) eight-week in-school sessions (total 840 hours) plus an additional three-week in-school session to complete the Gas Fitter 1 endorsement. The Apprentice will complete the on-the-job portion of the apprenticeship working under the direction of the Team Manager or designate.<p>Apprentices must become a member of the Ontario College of Trades. <p> Education/Experience An Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required. Successful completion of Grade 10 applied or academic Math and English would be an asset. A related college diploma and/or Gas Technician 2 Certification and/or previous trades experience are preferred.<p>The applicant must possess a valid Ontario Class G drivers license and present a clear drivers abstract on an annual basis. <p> Demonstrated and Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ? General technical knowledge<p>? Ability to read and interpret blueprints<p>? Ability to apply related math concepts<p>? Ability to read and comprehend English (e.g. technical instructions, manuals and work orders)<p>? Ability to use a variety of tools e.g. drills, voltage meter, hydraulic lifting devices, etc.<p>? Interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with co-workers, supervisors, and other OCDSB staff; listening skills to understand the explanations of problems and how equipment is functioning etc., organization skills to prioritize work orders and reschedule activities due to emergency calls<p>? Initiative and judgment to make decisions such as methods of repair and equipment/supplies needed, and prioritizing work orders<p>? Ability to use electronic mail system and computer maintenance management system<p>?
