*Geotechnical Engineer (Licensed in British Columbia)*
Our company is a long-serving geotechnical engineering firm in the South Okanagan. Our projects range from residential to subdivision and light commercial with scopes from feasibility to final design. Typical jobs include geotechnical site investigation, foundation design and remediation, retaining wall design, geological hazard assessment, stormwater management and on-site sewerage system design.
We are seeking a versatile Geotechnical Engineer to join our team full-time. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable or eager to learn about the diverse geology of the Okanagan-Similkameen and apply their technical skills to develop performance-based solutions for our clients.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Perform engineering analyses including, but not limited to, shallow and deep foundations, settlement, lateral load resistance, slope stability, seepage, and site-specific seismic response;
* Perform engineering assessments of geohazards including slope stability, flood and rockfall;
* Research and resolve design and construction problems;
* Determine requirements for, assign and evaluate laboratory and field data;
* Communicate effectively with team and multiple clients on projects of variable scope and size;
* Assist in preparation of proposals.
* Maintain positive relationships with existing clients.
* Excel in a team environment, lead and mentor junior engineers;
* Support business development and marketing efforts;
* Identify and pursue new clients/projects with business development goals.
*Preferred Skills*
* Experience designing shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, on-site sewerage systems;
* Competence with geotechnical software including RocScience, MSEW, GeoStudio and others;
* A can-do attitude with the technical and problem-solving skills to match;
* The ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to clients with confidence and tact.
*Qualifications*
* Undergraduate or further degree in Geological, Geotechnical or related engineering discipline;
* Professional Engineer registered with EGBC, or the ability to register immediately.
* Knowledge of local standards of practice, geology and building codes is an asset.
* Valid Driver's Licence required.
