*Health and Safety Advisor ? Burnaby, BC*
In the position of _*Health and Safety Advisor, *_you will be a key contributor towards CIMS success by actively assisting in the day-to-day health and safety activities at our client site. This position ensures compliance with CIMS policy and procedures and provides project support to the project H&S lead.
You will *report to the Project H&S Lead* and be accountable for:
* Participate in the Daily Toolbox Talks. Prepare comprehensive written reports with clear findings and recommendations.
* Monitor, measure, and report on environmental health and safety performance.
* Review current policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations and other relevant workplace legislation.
* Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and objectives for the company.
* Evaluate health and safety program effectiveness and make recommendations based on findings.
* Participate in all incident/injury investigations and follow-up meetings.
* Review Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and update and implement procedures and practices, and ensure training is conducted in a timely manner.
* Review safety statistics, conduct trend analysis and make recommendations for continual improvements.
* Review illnesses and injuries both occupational and non-occupational to ensure lost time is minimized.
* Conduct workplace inspections and facility audits as required and provide a corrective/preventative action plan complete with responsibilities and timelines.
_*A successful candidate*_ would be an individual who has extensive knowledge and application of environmental health and safety legislation and industry standards. Ability to review a variety of sources such as legislation on health and safety standards to become informed of the scope of employee relations cases.
Your *education background* would include a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field or equivalent or a combination of a post-secondary degree/diploma and a post graduate certificate in Occupational Health & Safety. Preferred candidates will have 5+ years of related experience.
*Other skills* we are looking for is strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal), planning, organization, conflict resolution and training skills. Self-starting, team player willing to work collaboratively towards achieving the strategic goals of the company. Working knowledge of all applicable software (MS office). Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
_*Working conditions*_ you can expect while performing your role include:
* Working in both an office environment and on client sites, supplier premises and other facilities.
* Will be required to work outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
* May be required to work outside of normal work hours on occasion to meet deadlines.
* May be required to work shift work on client sites including unusual shift rotations
