Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Non-smoking. Work setting: Various locations. Mechanical and service company. Residential. Tasks: Attend to gas escape calls. Install gas heating units and their components. Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment. Service gas heating units and their components. Install and maintain meters and regulators and gas lines between gas unit and gas meter. Prepare tenders and quotations. Repair and service gas appliances and related equipment. Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems. Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices. Test and replace defective equipment or components. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Gas Fitter Trade Certification. Welding techniques: Boilers. Area of specialization: Boiler installation.
