Responsibilities
Tasks

Collect samples from plants or products

Enforce government acts and regulations

Ensure health and safety regulations are followed

Explain required standards to agricultural workers

Inspect agricultural products
-
Inspect products to detect harmful diseases, chemical residues, or infestations

Interpret and explain government acts and regulations

Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports

Prepare reports
-
Route agricultural samples to laboratories for microbiological assessment, ingredient verification, or other testing
-
Examine storage, handling and transportation equipment to ensure that sanitary procedures are followed

Inspect the cleanliness and practices of establishment employees

Investigate consumer and trade complaints
-
Take emergency actions, such as closing production facilities, if product safety is compromised

Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market
