LEAD HAND MECHANICAL AND ENERGY <p>ONE POSITION FOR THE SOOKE SCHOOL DISTRICT.<p>FORTY HOURS PER WEEK. <p>PLEASE SEE JOB DESCRIPTION BELOW.<p>THIS IS A NEW POSITION AND WILL RECEIVE A FINAL PAY RATING 6 MONTHS AFTER THE NEW INCUMBENT STARTS AS PER THE JOB EVALUATION PLAN.<p>AN INTERIM HOURLY RATE OF $33.34 + $.83 CONTRACTOR PREMIUM + $2.03 LEAD HAND PREMIUM = $36.20 WILL BE APPLIED.<p>DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.<p> KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Secondary school graduation or equivalent <p> Holds a valid BC Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Certificate in a mechanical or related trade <p> Formal education/demonstratable course(s) in Sustainable Energy Management <p> Ability to obtain LEED Green Associate accreditation <p> Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the mechanical field which includes reading blueprints, laying out work, performing mechanical trade and repair work as well as budgeting and costing <p> Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience <p> Recent and formal supervisory, leadership or management training preferred; a combination of experience and training may be considered <p> Comprehensive knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems including broad knowledge of automation systems <p> Knowledgeable of policies, codes, regulations and safety standards both District and Governmental <p> Demonstratable knowledge and experience with energy efficient technology related to lighting systems, HVAC systems, cooling plant equipment, heating plant equipment and control systems <p> Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office with ability to form emails (Outlook), create documents and presentation (Word/PowerPoint), manipulate data (Excel) as well as navigate the internet and use web- based applications <p> Holds a minimum of a valid BC Class 5 Driver's License SKILLS AND ABILITIES Keeps in mind the safety of others including school children <p> Actively shows courtesy and respect to all, proactively builds healthy and trusting relationships with all; contributes to a positive working environment <p> Clearly articulates thoughts and ideas and shares timely and relevant information openly, honestly and respectfully <p> Possesses strong organizational skills and proactively plans, prioritizes and organizes work <p> Takes initiative and works efficiently without direct supervision <p> Respects the confidential nature of all information RESPONSIBILITIES Provides leadership to the mechanical trades crew enabling them to effectively carry-out their assigned work and perform to the best of their potential <p> Performs skilled and non-skilled tasks related to mechanical trades work <p> Ensures that the work of mechanical trades and related staff is carried-out in an efficient and productive manner and resolves any work-related problems as they arise <p> Recommends and provides training for both skilled and non-skilled trades staff to increase the skill levels, removing obstacles to better performance at work <p> Estimates mechanical repair, maintenance and upgrade projects in terms of labour and materials, recommends, and purchases supplies and equipment, in coordination with their supervisor, and maintains an inventory of mechanical equipment, hardware, materials, tools and supplies <p> Implements and manages a utility management software program focused on utility performance management and future upgrade/project identification <p> Completes annual Carbon Neutral Government reporting on behalf of the School District <p> Monitors and troubleshoots Direct Digital Controls (DDC) from a variety of vendors <p> Collects energy consumption data from utilities and benchmarks energy performance of buildings and fleet <p>
