This key role involves providing technical support for the development review process, conducting ?eld inspections, and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws.Located at the south end of the Sunshine Coast, just north of Vancouver, Gibsons is a picturesque community of under ?ve thousand people. This is a great opportunity to live and work in a municipality renowned for its leadership in natural asset management.TYPICAL DUTIESLiaise with developers, contractors, and the public on relevant Town bylaws and construction documents; Guide developers and property owners on the Town's servicing requirements; Represent the Town's interests in communications with developers and property owners; Complete and respond to internal development referrals accurately; Attend meetings with planning staff and developers to discuss development requirements; Collaborate with the DIS and consulting engineers on development applications; Ensure developers and builders comply with infrastructure-related bylaws; Assist the Finance Department and public works staff with utility data collection and reporting; Perform inspections on new subdivisions, developments, and capital projects; Conduct field surveys, gather information, and perform related calculations; Address public concerns regarding municipal servicing and safety; Guide utility companies to ensure use of Town lands complies with bylaws; Maintain and update construction plans and GIS database of Town infrastructure assets; Prepare maps and drawings using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or other software for projects; Assist in inspecting existing municipal utility systems for condition and capacity issues; Support capital works budgeting and future planning for municipal servicing; Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Infrastructure Services;EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEA diploma from a recognized technical institute as a Civil Engineering Technologist in the field of Civil Engineering Technology. Equivalent education in Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering may be considered; Eligible for certification as an Applied Science Technologist in the field of Civil Engineering Technology; Previous experience in Land Development and Municipal Engineering; Knowledge of records management best practices including the documentation and maintenance of department activities and functions an asset.SUMMARY OF KEY COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIESKnowledge of civil construction methods and inspections; Ability to work with minimal supervision; Ability to communicate e?ectively, both orally and in writing; Ability to work e?ectively within a team and to deal patiently and courteously with the general public; Pro?ciency with Microsoft O?ce Programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project. Pro?ciency with AutoCAD and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Valid Class 5 BC driver?s licence.
