Posting Number: T24-330<p>Date Issued: August 30, 2024POSITION <p>Worksite: Chilliwack Middle School<p>Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time<p>Assignment Area(s): Counsellor <p>Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)<p>Effective Date: Immediately until not later than to June 30, 2025<p>Please Note: The assignment within this position may not be identical to the assignment as indicated in this posting.<p>Deadline for Applications: Monday, September 9, 2024 12:00 pmElectronic Applications must be submitted through Make A Future www.makeafuture.ca and include a Cover Letter, Resume, Teaching Report, Transcripts & the names of two (2) current supervisors who can comment on your teaching.Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience: <p>Masters degree, recognized by the College of Teachers, in counselling psychology or a related discipline with a focus on behaviour disorders and counselling<p>knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services, as it relates to behavior and mental health support<p>demonstrated ability to collect behavioural information and performing behavioural screening and/or assessments in order to complete Functional Behavioural Assessments<p>knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel<p>sound understanding and demonstrated application of current middle school philosophy:<p>oTeaming - demonstrated ability and experience working with one or two other teachers to support a core group of students<p>oAdvisory dedicated instructional time with students to foster connectedness and positive relationships to support adolescent development <p>oExploratory providing students the opportunity to sample high interest courses<p>oCollaboration ongoing inquiry-based team work<p>demonstrated capabilities in providing effective student, family and group counselling services<p>demonstrated interest in facilitating peer counselling skills amongst students<p>demonstrated knowledge of and proven ability to access community services for students and their families<p>knowledge of, and demonstrated application of strategies to support the goals as outlined in SD 33 Aboriginal Enhancement Agreement <p>willingness to assist with the leadership of the School Based Team<p>demonstrated understanding of school timetable for both middle and elementary and ability to extensively utilize online scheduling tools such as MyEd<p>proven ability to inspire and support confidence and self-worth in adolescents<p>demonstrated ability to motivate students who are disadvantaged or have dysfunctional behaviour patterns to attend school regularly<p>demonstrated application and facilitation of small groups to address issues such as anxiety and depression<p>demonstrated knowledge and ability to support classroom teachers with best practice in SEL<p>demonstrated ability to be a case manager and positively advocate for students<p>willingness to work with and support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)<p>willingness to work in a collaborative manner with staff, administration, and parents<p>For Further Information Contact: Stacey Pickles, Principal, or Kathryn Popma, Vice-Principal (604) 795-5781
