Job details
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Tasks: Troubleshoot heating systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Coach and instruct apprentices. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Interpret gas codes. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate. Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate. Apprenticeship training: Level four apprenticeship training. Level five apprenticeship training. Control systems: Energy conservation. Computerized monitoring. Electrical devices. Electronic and solid state. Direct digital control system. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained). Heat pump. Filtration. Built up (split system). Humidification and de-humidification system. Ventilation. Specialization or experience: Green economy sector. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots.
