Job Title: Registered Early Childhood Educator
Work location: 2330 Midland Avenue East, Toronto (IRC)
Work Team/Unit: Community Services/Early Years Services
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary Range: $ 42,934 to $ 46,883
Hourly: $23.59
Status: Unionized
*Responsibilities:*
* Develop and implement programs and procedures for Early Years Programs to ensure the facility and activities meet the needs of the children, and the health and safety requirements set by the funder;
* Design and implement curriculum and activities that meet the needs of young children and their families; ensure quality is consistent with other CICS locations;
* Monitor daily program activities for young children to ensure learning goals and safety is achieved to the highest standard;
* Maintain facility and equipment and assist in housekeeping duties for the physical space;
* Seek out and create innovative opportunities to promote CICS?s Early Years services both internally and externally;
* Act as person-in-charge at the site and work in collaboration with other ECEs and frontline staff; applying relevant legislation to program planning and service delivery, as required;
* Evaluate emerging client needs and new program ideas in the context of CICS's mandate; assess strengths and capabilities in early years program development and delivery; facilitate delivery of the refined programs _/_services in a timely manner;
* In collaboration with other ECEs and program staff, set long-term plans with the managers to improve effectiveness and monitor trends and changes in client demographics and needs;
* Ensure programs and services provided are culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of newcomers and the diversity of CICS?s client-base;
· Communicate with parents and provide updates on their children's progress in a positive, inclusive and respectful manner;
· Facilitate the implementation of evaluation measures on program effectiveness;
· Provide follow-up and status reports as required, e.g. program service utilization and effectiveness, as well as feedback from clients and volunteers;
* Support the EY Program Manager to create and maintain a positive, harmonious work environment and be an effective role model by championing CICS's mission, vision and values;
* Support the Program Manager to resolve conflicts and supervisory issues;
* Ensure compliance of policies, standards, guidelines, and controls; apply policies and controls fairly and consistently;
* Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research;
* Develop and implement measures to ensure competent handling and utilization of materials and resources, including program supplies, facilities, equipment, furniture etc., with the highest degree of integrity and diligence;
* Adhere to day-to-day program budget management guidelines; provide early disclosure on issues_/_risks;
* Coordinate purchase of program materials and supplies in accordance with budget guidelines;
* Establish, build and maintain internal and external relationships (e.g. parents/caregivers), attend meetings as required, for partnership, collaboration, information sharing and networking;
* Participate in cross-functional programs duties, from needs assessments, design and development, to delivery of programs;
* Engage in meetings by preparing for and actively participating in discussions.
