Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Structural steel fabrication company. Tasks: Prepare engineering designs and drawings. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Train new drafting personnel. Develop and prepare design sketches. Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates. Write technical reports. Write specifications. Estimate costs and materials. Complete documentation packages and drawing sets. Examine drawings for conformity and errors. Consult with client, engineers or production specialists to establish product requirements. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Civil engineering technology (CVT). Steel detailing Certification. Type of drafting: Shop drawings. Computer and technology knowledge: Tekla. Internet. Computer-aided design (CAD). AutoCAD. MS Office. MS Windows. Area of work experience: Fabrication. Quality assurance or control. Area of specialization: Construction. Electro-mechanical drafting. Mechanical. Structural engineering. Structural metal or steel. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Willing to travel. Travel expenses not paid by employer.
