Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Various locations. Industrial. Tasks: Inspect operation of instruments and systems. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Repair and adjust system components. Complete test and maintenance reports. Remove and replace defective parts. Calibrate components and instruments. Logical approach for troubleshooting. Determine testing and maintenance procedures. Install new measuring instruments. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Industrial Instrument Mechanic Trade Certification. Instrumentation and Control Technicians (Red Seal). Type of service and repair: Pneumatic and electro-pneumatic sequential control system. Hydraulic and electro-hydraulic sequential control system. Electronic process instrumentation. Pneumatic process instrumentation. In-line process analyzers. Multiple loop control system. Computerized instrumentation system. Primary control element and sensors maintenance and application. Final control element maintenance and application. Distributed control system (DCS). Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. Signal converters. Signal conditioners. Temperature, pressure, flow and level instruments. Speed measurement indicators. Density, weight or viscosity instruments. pH indicators and sensors. Gas analyzers. Gas and liquid chromatographs. Spectrometers. Vibration sensing system. Programmable logic controller (PLC). Analytical techniques: Instrumentation. Instrument experience: Pneumatic. Electronic. Mechanical.
