Situated in historic Kingston, on the shores of scenic Lake Ontario, the Limestone District School Board serves more than 19,000 students in 55 schools and 5 alternative education centres, covering a geographic area of 7,719 square kilometres across the City of Kingston, the Townships of Central Frontenac, North Frontenac, South Frontenac, Addington Highlands, Loyalist, Stone Mills, the Frontenac Islands and the Town of Greater Napanee.Position Overview<p>An adolescent care worker is responsible for supporting students at the secondary level with social, emotional and behavioural issues that interfere with their success in the regular school program.Summary of Duties and Responsibilities<p> Provide support to students in dealing with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.<p> Provide direct student support to individuals, small groups, and classrooms in areas such as social emotional learning, social skills, conflict resolution, bullying, early intervention with attendance concerns, anger management, and well-being.<p> Participate in case conferences with school personnel and community agencies to bring about positive outcomes for at risk students.<p> Maintain a high standard of professional development through adequate knowledge of school board programs and community resources<p> Facilitate referrals to alternative school settings and community resources.<p> Act as a liaison between school, community agencies and families.<p> Encourage students in maintaining school and classroom attendance.<p> Provide strategies and classroom resources to effect appropriate behavioural change.<p> Consult with schools on the assessment of high-risk students and suicide risk assessment.<p> Participate in professional development opportunities as well as provide professional development to Board employees and community agencies.<p> Provide support to school personnel and parents in the aftermath of a crisis and/or a traumatic event.<p> To perform related professional duties as assigned.<p>Qualifications & Experience<p> Community College Diploma/Degree or University Degree in a social science discipline such as Child and Youth Worker, Behavioural Science Technology, Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent combination of University Degree and related work experience.<p> Hold a valid Ontario Drivers Licence and access to a vehicleHow to Apply<p>Interested applicants are asked to submit an application package that includes a cover letter and resume outlining how your qualifications, skills and experience relate to the position as well as proof of qualifications.
