The *Accounting Technician *reports directly to the *Vice President, Accounting & Finance*, and will be responsible for the financial administration of the company and project costing, as it relates to the operation of a construction business.
_*As an Accounting Technician at Ashton Construction Services Inc. you will:*_
* Perform and support financial administration for the company, including reconciliations; assisting with financial analysis; budgeting; data entry and tracking.
* Assist with the management of the company general ledger, monthly closing, process and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and ongoing reports in accordance with Buildertrend and QuickBooks Online (QBO) software.
* Support the Vice President with oversight of the accounting and finance functions.
* Perform and manage the accounts payable process with our vendors, subtrades and suppliers.
* Verify invoices in QBO and Buildertrend for all departments.
* Check coding for invoices and expense reports as directed.
* Manage and track vendor holdbacks.
* Follow up with the team on outstanding invoices, credit card payments, and invoice approvals.
* Assist with input of accounts receivable invoices, collections, and reporting.
* Complete WCB clearance checks.
* Prepare statutory declarations and credit applications.
* Assist with monthly payroll process.
* Assist with process optimization and other duties as assigned.
_*To be Successful at Ashton Construction Services Inc., you will have the following qualifications and experience:*_
* 2-3 years' experience in accounting with preference for construction accounting background (commercial buildings, multifamily, retail, healthcare, etc.).
* Preference given for Diploma or Certificate in Accounting Technology.
* Proficient with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
* Proficient in a Windows environment and MS Office Suite including Teams and Planner.
* Proficient with Adobe Pro.
* Excellent organizational and planning skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills.
* The ability to make timely and rational decisions under pressure.
* Experience using Buildertrend, or other related software, considered an asset.
