Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Commercial. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems. Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Backflow prevention Certification. Plumber Trade Certification. First Aid Certificate. Gas Fitter Red Seal Certificate. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Vehicle supplied by employer. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Overtime required. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills.
