We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Occupational Health & Safety Specialist to join our People, Culture & Transformation team in a regular full-time capacity. Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, the City?s Occupational Health & Safety Specialists play a pivotal role in advancing organizational health, safety and wellness priorities.Key responsibilities include:Collaborating with colleagues and client groups to deliver occupational health and safety programs, initiatives and training; Providing information and guidance on health and safety matters, including OHS policy and procedures; Leading implementation of projects and initiatives; Conducting workplace inspections and participating in safety audits; Using data analytics and trends to inform and implement proactive workplace strategies; Investigating workplace accidents and processing accident claims, liaising with WorkSafeBC and other agencies; Representing the City before WorkSafeBC and other forums;You will have several years of progressive experience in health and safety, advising in a unionized environment, together with a diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A thorough knowledge of disability case management and labour relations jurisprudence and legislation combined with expertise in relevant legislation (Workers? Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC OHS Regulations and rehabilitation/claims services and policies) is required. Preference will be given to applicants with the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification. First Aid Certification would be an asset, together with a knowledge of occupational first aid requirements. During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC). We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is: $108,804.00 - $126,840.00 (2024 rates).
