Job Summary:<p>Under the supervision of the OSCS Principal and Penticton Indian Band Administrator, the<p>OSCS Vice Principal will ensure a balanced education program including mental, emotional,<p>spiritual, and physical elements while empowering staff, students and parents to work in<p>partnership for the success of the school and the educational programs offered. The VP will work<p>closely with the Principal, Executive Assistant, School Counselor, and Learning Assistance<p>Teacher to manage school policies, procedures, student learning, staff supervision, and student<p>social/emotional concerns. The VP will have excellent conflict resolution skills and work<p>collaboratively with staff, parents, students, and the PIB community.<p>Duties/Responsibilities:<p>Job Responsibilities and Work Performed<p>In collaboration and under the direction of the OSCS Principal, the VP will provide support<p>in the following:<p>? Provides leadership and strategic planning of education program and service in the<p>following areas:<p>o Reviewing teacher year plans; instructional leadership; evaluation and assessment<p>of programs; scheduling of staff.<p>? Provides ongoing supervision of staff with a focus on improving communication,<p>professional growth and development.<p>? Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Penticton Indian Band<p>Education policies and procedures.<p>? Maintains an educational philosophy and school climate, which encourages a<p>cooperative, respectful and positive attitude of all teachers, support staff and students at<p>OSCS.<p>? Provides strategic human resources development and management in the following<p>areas:<p>o Staff recruitment, hiring, staff performance management.<p>o Provides supervision in Principal?s absence of all staff to include teachers, support<p>staff, custodian, cooks, bus drivers, Teachers On Call, etc.<p>o Direct supervision of kitchen staff, custodial staff, and bus driving staff.<p>? Promotes positive staff engagement and relationship/team building.<p>? Provide prep blocks for teachers on an ongoing basis.<p>? Prepares, maintains and reports on program budgets and work plans in collaboration<p>with the Principal.<p>? Evaluates and assists with the development and implementation of curriculum to ensure<p>that it is current and that new trends are appropriately incorporated with a focus on<p>language and culture.<p>? Promotes parent involvement through programming, events, workshops.<p>? Recruits students and maintains nominal roll.<p>? Provides verbal and written reports to the PIB Chief and Council and at community<p>meetings as required.<p>? Seeks additional funding by writing proposals to various funding agencies to ensure<p>adequate funding for educational requirements, evaluation of student programming,<p>IEPs, Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, special education, teacher year<p>planning, etc.<p>? Manages and resolves student disciplinary issues that arise by:<p>o Consulting with Learning Assistance Teacher, Counselor, Classroom Teacher,<p>students, and parents<p>o Managing school discipline files<p>o Resolving student behavioral problems in school and on bus<p>o Leading circles with staff/students/parents<p>? Attends required meetings; communicates with all partners in education<p>Qualifications/Requirements:<p>Minimum Academic/Educational Requirements<p>Knowledge of:<p>? Provincial Curriculum from K-12 Outma School<p>? BC College of Teachers Certification<p>? Master of Education<p>Minimum level of experience:<p>? At least 5-7 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary education. Experience<p>in First Nations schools or with Indigenous communities would be particularly valuable.<p>? A minimum of 2-3 years in a leadership role within an educational setting, such as a<p>department head, lead teacher, or administrative position.<p>?
