Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. At heights. Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Tasks: Direct planting of trees, gardens and lawns. Hire, supervise and schedule staff. Organize planting of trees, gardens and lawns. Plan and direct grounds maintenance. Plan and estimate labour and materials. Organize and direct construction of decks and decorative or retaining walls. Plan, manage and supervise landscape construction work. Read blueprints and drawings. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Establish work schedules and procedures. Supervision: 5-10 people. Equipment and machinery experience: Backhoe. Chain saw. Pick-up truck. Small engine equipment. Sod cutter. Skidsteer. Area of specialization: Landscape construction. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Enhanced reliability security clearance. Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Vehicle supplied by employer. Drive manual transmission vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods.
