*Job Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and a passion for occupational health. This full-time Registered Nurse (RN) position is located at our Head Office in Dartmouth, NS. Primary hours of work are Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, with occasional extended days & / or evening work required when working off-site at client locations. Off-site work and overnight travel may be required and is planned in advance. As a growing clinic, we are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
*Responsibilities*
As a member of the ECMM Occupational Health Team, the RN will be required to provide pre-employment health assessments, health surveillance programs, immunization clinics, collection of blood and urine specimens for specific employers and assist with the delivery of on-site employer health events such as flu clinics, biometric testing, lunch & learn and wellness programs.
*Key Responsibilities will include:*
* Health Assessments: Pre-employment / pre-placement, legislated, annual, and periodic health surveillance programs including follow-up for additional medical documentation and or testing results. Spirometry, ecg, audiometric testing. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
* Immunizations: Flu clinics, Hep A & Hep B, Twinrix, tetanus and Tdap
* Laboratory collections: blood and urine specimens
* Wellness Clinics: Biometric screening, glucose & cholesterol screening and health education
* Assisting Occupational Health Nurse Manager with: Daily requirements of the department, support services to team in absence of OHN Manager (vacations), assisting with training and oversight of casual contract health professionals located throughout Atlantic Canada. Assisting with disability case management.
*Key Qualifications and Experience*
* Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia.
* Previous experience in occupational health nurse would be considered an asset.
* Must be reliable, supportive team member, with the ability to adapt to change.
* Strong nursing assessment skills required.
* Venipuncture experience required.
* Experience in Occupational Health and Safety, and Wellness Programs would be considered an asset.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to details required.
* Superior problem solver and decision maker based on policy and regulation.
* Excellent organization skills, including health documents and file management.
* Proficiency with utilizing Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Current CPR certification.
* Minimum of 3 - 5 years RN experience.
* Valid drivers' license.
