<p>Social Assistance Technicians are responsible for the provision of crisis intervention and support services, short-term counselling to all clients residing at the shelter. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide short-term counselling services that are consistent with the philosophy, goals and objectives established by Robin's Nest.</p><p>Education:</p><ul><li>Diploma of college studies with specialization in Social Work Techniques, or Social Assistance Techniques from a school recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport;</li><li>This job title also includes the persons who, after having acquired pertinent experience, have a certificate of college studies in Social Work Techniques or Social Assistance Techniques;</li><li>Holder of the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training is an asset or willingness to follow it.</li></ul><p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* To know and understand fully the social-economic factors on the issues of family violence impacting the affected families.* To develop and maintain an effective and supportive working relationship with all management, Robin's Nest team and partners. * Establish and maintain a warm and personal and supportive - though professional relationship with all clients and non-clients.* Ensure the strictest elements of a safe and secure environment are adhered to at all times within the shelter.* Ensure the strictest elements of CONFIDENTIALITY are adhered to at times with the shelter and in accordance with the social work code of ethics.</p><p>Knowledge and Abilities:</p><ul><li>Knowledge of and experience with public and community health prevention and promotion related approaches, methods, issues and programming (and in First Nation contexts being an asset);</li><li>Knowledge of MSSS programs and regulations for first lines services is an asset;</li><li>Knowledge of Cree culture, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;</li><li>Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Miyupimaatisiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;</li><li>Good understanding of developmental psychology, and social domains;</li><li>Basic understanding of the services offered by the shelter and be aware of the other services available in the community and surrounding area;</li><li>Ability to work with the targeted clientele;</li><li>Excellent teamwork skills;</li><li>Excellent critical thinking, organizational and decision-making skills;</li><li>Autonomous, likes to take initiative, flexible, discrete and empathetic;</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both group animation, written and presentation;</li><li>Ability in office-related computer application</li></ul><p>Language:</p><ul><li>Fluent in English and Cree;</li><li>Fluency in French is an asset.</li></ul><p>Only female applicants will be taken in consideration for this position, due to the specific mandate of this shelter.</p>
