Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: General manufacturing. Oil and gas industry. Tasks: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Repair machine tools and parts. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Gauges. Verniers. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Boring machines. Engine lathes. Jig borer. Milling machines. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Standing for extended periods. Attention to detail. Overtime required. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
