Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Operate heavy equipment. Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks. Understand the purpose, proper usgage and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS). Complete onboard and other logs. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Prepare accident reports. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment. Perform minor repairs to equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Power Line Hazardous Training. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Type of heavy equipment operated: Backhoe excavator, loader. Gradall. Grader. Loader. Compactor. Dump truck. Gravel or dump truck. Area of work experience: Ditching. Excavation. Fine grading and finishing. Material handling. Rough grading. Snow removal. Stock piling. Trenching. Type of industry experience: Industrial/commercial/institutional (ICI) construction. Large diameter pipeline construction. Surface mining. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Screening questions: Are you available for shift or on-call work?.
