Overlanders Manufacturing is seeking a permanent full time Manufacturing Engineer specializing in sheet metal manufacturing and process improvement to join our dynamic team.
*Position Summary*
In this critical role, you will support the engineering team by ensuring the smooth execution of manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with engineers and production staff to assist in the design, development, and implementation of sheet metal components and products. Your expertise will be vital in driving efficiency and enhancing the quality of our manufacturing operations.
*Position Details: *
Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm
Compensation: Dependent on knowledge and experience.
* Provide essential technical support to engineers and production personnel by assisting in the development of manufacturing processes, creating detailed drawings, and generating specifications for sheet metal components. Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot design and production issues, proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and quality.
* Use the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement to determine and eliminate wastes, improve productivity, quality and improve the overall processes.
* Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand the necessary dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements for sheet metal components.
* Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify detailed drawings and specifications for sheet metal components or assemblies, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, manufacturing feasibility, and industry standards.
* Participate in the development and fabrication of prototypes or samples of sheet metal components. Collaborate with the production team to ensure proper material selection, accurate measurements, and adherence to design specifications. Conduct tests and evaluations to validate prototype performance and functionality.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
* Bachelor?s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
* Must be registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia or ASTTBC.
* Experienced in using CAD and CAM software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Sigmanest, and Radan/Rabend for creating and modifying designs.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
* Experienced with 3D CAD modeling sheet metal parts and assemblies.
* Knowledgeable in Graphical CNC programming using Sigmanest for punch and laser programming.
* Knowledge of Visual Manufacturing ERP software is considered an asset
* Lean Six Sigma Green Belt considered an asset
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Willing to adapt quickly in a multitasking environment.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, engineers, and stakeholders.
* Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to occupational health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and quality control personnel.
