*Position Overview:*
Reporting to the Shipper/Receiver Supervisor you will be responsible for assisting with shipping/receiving functions as requested. You will demonstrate a commitment to increased productivity and work at a pace acceptable to ensure goals are met as well as effectively adapting to tight deadlines and sudden or frequent changes in priority in order to accomplish objectives.
*Key Responsibilities:*
· Loading and unloading of trucks. Verifying that the product and quantities match the invoice and PO. Assign locations in IQMS.
· Prepare all related documents prior to shipments i.e. packing slips, commercial invoices, bill of lading etc.
· Review available and unavailable ?To Ship? list daily and consult with the Production Planner, Customer Service and Plant Manager when product is not available for shipping.
· Track shipments and notify Production Planning department of any delays.
· Pick orders and prepare for shipping, arrange for freight pick-ups, request spot rate freight quotes from carriers.
· Perform daily forklift safety check and report any problems before operating.
· Organize Finished Goods left in staging areas.
· Participate in year-end inventory count, preparing the Shipping/Receiving area for physical counts.
· When shipping items use the FIFO (first in first out) method. Items with the earliest date on them are shipped first.
· Maintain warehouse cleanliness and perform required cleanup (5S for workplace organization and cleanliness).
· Communicate with carriers, vendors and team members as required.
· Assist with other supply chain functions as required.
· Follow all security procedures
*Qualifications:*
· Minimum grade 12 or equivalent.
· Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
· Good interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
· Previous experience in a Shipping/Receiving environment would be considered an asset.
· Valid class 5 driver?s license.
· Must have a passion for continuous improvement.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Must be able to lift 25kgs.
