<p><strong>Mission Statement:</strong> Homes First Society develops and provides affordable, stable housing and support services to break the cycle of homelessness for people with the fewest housing options.<br><br></p><p><strong>Position type: Contract, Full-Time</strong></p><p><strong>Location: Downtown Toronto near Lakeshore Blvd W and Bathurst St</strong></p><p><strong>Hours of work: </strong><strong>Tuesday to Saturday, 4pm to 12am</strong></p><p><strong>Contract duration: starting ASAP, ending November 2024</strong></p><p><strong>Salary: To be discussed </strong></p><p></p><p><strong>Submit Resume to: ramya.rengaraman@homesfirst.on.ca</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>APPLICANTS MUST QUOTE ?PS-54"</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>Job Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Assist with the supervision, training and management of Property Department staff, both unionized and non-unionized team, in a unionized environment within the context of the Collective Agreement;</li><li>Carry out daily, weekly, monthly corrective and preventive maintenance audits throughout the organization, ensuring all work has been completed accurately and efficiently and providing solutions if this is not the case;</li><li>Determine how best to handle emergency repairs after business hours, including during overnight hours. Performing those repairs, coordinating licensed tradespeople and following up with appropriate reporting;</li><li>Oversee administration staff, scheduling and effective communications with contractors, housing and shelter staff to ensure all municipal bylaws and Landlord Tenant Act regulations are implemented and followed;</li><li>Oversee and support maintenance workers, ensure proper safety PPE equipment is applied;</li><li>Communicate regularly with Shelter Supervisors while onsite;</li><li>Assist with supporting Life Safety Coordinator when necessary;</li><li>Assist with supporting Inventory Specialist ensuring accuracy and timeliness of systems;</li><li>Prepare and apply necessary WHMIS Workplace Hazards Materials Information System and Ministry of Environment guidelines and regulations;</li><li>Complete ongoing professional development related to core responsibilities.</li><li>Other tasks as assigned</li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p><ul><li>Post-secondary education or equivalent.</li><li>Self-motivated with the ability to problem solve individually and as part of a team/group;</li><li>Demonstrated organizational, time management, and administration skills;</li><li>Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications;</li><li>Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships within your staff team and with other department staff members and interact positively with the tenant population who have experienced homelessness, mental health and addiction problems;</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work with people who have mental health and addiction issues</li><li>Knowledge of tenant population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness.</li><li>Knowledge of relevant laws, standards, and guidelines, including the Residential Tenancies Act and Toronto Hostel Standards</li><li>Knowledge of resources and services available in the community;</li><li>Excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills;</li><li>Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills;</li><li>Knowledge of group processes and dynamics;</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing</li><li>Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in languages other than English an asset</li><li>Must be able to lift 25 kilograms;</li><li>Supervisory experience in a unionized setting an asset;</li><li>Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention an asset</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><em>Working in an environment where there may be sm
