Education: Bachelor's degree. Tasks: Conduct studies on the properties of materials and characteristics of materials. Read blueprints and drawings. Design, develop and specify processes for moulding, forming and thermal treatment of metals, alloys, ceramics and other materials. Conduct chemical and physical analytical studies, failure analyses and operational testing, and recommend materials and corrosion control measures. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Area of work experience: Operations or production. Quality assurance or control. Research and development. Specification or technical writing.
