Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Asset languages: Spanish; Castilian. Hebrew. Tasks: Determine type of glass, frames and material required. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, mark and cut glass. Position and secure panes in frame. Prepare tenders and quotations. Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products. Install door, window and other hardware. Instruct apprentices. Repair glass doors and other glass structures. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Supervise other workers. Transport cases of glass. Estimate costs and materials. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes and other lifting equipment. Frame fabrication and installation: Curtain wall (stock length material). Curtain wall (prefabricated material). Spandrel panel installations. Aluminum framing members. Entranceways. Glass cutting equipment and techniques: Cutting wheels. Self-lubricating cutters. Circular cutters. Automatic finger pull machine. Cut glass plate manually (straight cuts). Cut glass plate free-hand (curved cuts). Bend glass. Edge glass plates. Laminate glass. Paint glass. Tint glass. Installation specialization: Skylights and slope glazed installations. Sports installations (sports courts and boards). Stained glass installations. Aluminum storefronts, barrel vaults, solariums, commercial window systems. Electrically altered glass. Glass baffles, smoke and sprinkler baffles. Heat resistant ceramics.
