Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Select type of insulation required. Instruct apprentices. Measure and cut insulating materials to required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools. Apply and secure insulation using spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, taping and other application and installation methods. Fit insulation around obstructions and between joists and studs. Install vapour barriers and fire-retardant materials. Brush waterproofing cement or other material over insulating materials. Fabricate and apply removable insulation pads and covers. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Area of specialization: Cryogenic insulation. Custom fabrication and layout. Spraying and blowing insulation. Fire stopping and fireproofing. Cladding. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Manual dexterity. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Screening questions: Are you available for shift or on-call work?. Are you available for the advertised start date?.
