Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Wholesale establishment/store. Tasks: Establish and maintain contact with suppliers. Maintain adequate stock levels. Review requirements of establishment and determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase. Select and purchase merchandise for resale. Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories and product design events. Check products for quality and other specifications. Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales. Advertise and/or promote products, sales or services.
