Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Willing to relocate. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Prepare tenders and quotations. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Survey building locations and levels. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Carpenter Red Seal Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Travel expenses paid by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Work with minimal supervision. Ability to work independently. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Client focus.
