*The opportunity:*
The University of Manitoba's Strategic Marketing and Communications team is hiring a Communications Manager, one of four reporting to the Director, University Communications. The Manager leads three Communications Officers who support UM's Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic). This role focuses on both student and faculty communications, establishing best practices that optimize content for target audiences. The Manager plays a key role in building the university's internal and external reputation across local, regional, and national levels. We are looking for an experienced communicator and leader who can shift seamlessly from clear, direct crisis communication to inspiring, engaging storytelling.
*The qualifications and experience we?re looking for:*
* Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing or other related specialization required.
* Six years of directly-related communications and client management experience in an integrated marketing communications setting required.
* Leadership and management experience is required.
* A solid understanding of print and digital communications platforms and the ability to leverage in an integrated way to meet identified goals and objectives are required.
* Thorough knowledge of the procedures and techniques in the field of specialization is required.
* An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
* Must have exceptional leadership and relationship building skills.
* Must have strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize conflicting demands.
* Strong project management skills are required.
* Must possess a high degree of independence, diplomacy and the ability to work collectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to effectively collaborate and negotiate is required.
* Ability liaise successfully with external partners and senior leaders within the institution is required.
* Ability to motivate and inspire team members is required.
* Ability to manage a broad range of marketing communications projects from concept to completion is required. This includes, but is not limited to: communications strategies, print publications, social media strategies, digital content development, advertising and market research.
* A proven track record in working with all levels of staff, including senior administration, external stakeholders and others is an asset.
* Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
