Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm ?lifestyle pool? and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. Our goal is to cultivate a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the community we serve and aim to become.About the Opportunity:The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Recreation Programmer position, responsible for the Child, Youth, and Family Services portfolio. Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, this position requires an exceptional team player with the ability to maintain a high standard of customer service while performing the following duties:Planning, development, implementation, scheduling, promotion and evaluation of recreational programs, services, and special events for the community Hire, train, assign and review the work of staff involved in Child, Youth & Family Services programs/services; ensure schedules, procedures and safety standards are met; responsible for staff development and performance appraisals; create and implement in-service training programs Propose initiatives for the promotion, advertising, and marketing of recreation programs; prepare promotional material such as flyers, posters, press releases, newspaper ads, social media and seasonal brochures; respond to inquiries and concerns from the public regarding recreation programs. Our Preferred Candidate:The ideal candidate will have:Diploma in Recreation Administration (2 years) Valid Class -5 BC Driver?s License Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR ?C? Possess and maintain positive criminal record check 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
