Transportation TechnicianJob order - J0824-1193 - Regular Full-TimeTitle Transportation TechnicianCategory EngineeringCity Port Moody, British Columbia, CanadaJob Description Transportation TechnicianThe City of Port Moody has an excellent regular, full-time opportunity available for a Transportation Technician.The Transportation Technician provides analysis, design, technical support and project coordination in the management and administration of transportation related matters in the City?s Engineering and Operations department. This position works between an office and site environment, liaising with City staff, contractors, consultants, developers, neighboring municipalities, external agencies, third party utility providers, as well as the public. Duties include assisting with the management of transportation projects of various scales, preparing CAD plans and drawings, administering procedures, policies, and bylaws, writing reports, preparing presentations and responding to internal and external inquiries. Responsibilities may also include mapping, designing, and modelling using engineering related computer software including interpreting and summarizing recommendations based on the results of such work. Responsibilities:Plan, administer, review and coordinate Citywide parking programs (Pay Parking, Multi-Family Permits, Loading Zones, etc.) Administer, review, recommend approval (approve as delegated) and confirm compliance of Highway Use Permits and Temporary Street Use Permits Develop and maintain an inventory of Engineering infrastructure (Signs, Road Markings, Sidewalks, etc.) Conduct infrastructure condition assessments and prepare work order requests (pavement, streetlights, etc.) Prepare sign plans, pavement marking plans, and other transportation or traffic related designs Support traffic data collection, analysis, model simulation, reporting on metrics and other data processing Conduct traffic and transportation related site inspections, traffic counts, parking occupancy counts, monitor safety, work progress, project costs, and assess compliance with municipal standards. Prepares reports, policies, cost estimates, business cases, and other documents as required Prepares and submits grant applications, grant claims, tracks and reports on status of grants, applications and claims Participate in traffic and transportation related public consultation efforts including open houses, workshops, and panel discussions Provide traffic and transportation related customer service (public inquiries, safety reviews, community outreach, education programs, etc)Basic Qualifications: Diploma of Technology or Bachelor's degree Minimum of two years of related experience Knowledge of municipal engineering operations Ability to prepare, read and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents and experience interpreting and reviewing professional reports, review of designs, City bylaws and technical specifications Effective written and verbal communication skills including preparing public reports Computer skills including AutoCAD, GIS mapping systems, and Microsoft Office Excellent communication and customer service skills Class 5 Drivers License Registration as a CTech or AScT with ASTTBC would be an asset Certification specific to the job duties such as the International Municipal Signal Association certification, MMCD Public Works Inspector certification, or other related certifications would be an assetPlease note that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to receipt of a satisfactory police information check and a satisfactory driver's abstract.The City of Port Moody strives to be an employer of choice and offers an excellent benefits package as well as professional development opportunities and, for some positions, hybrid work opportunities.
